„What the hell happened to you?“, Ryo whispered and looked in the red and swollen face of his student.
“Nothing”, Kame answered and wanted to close the door, when he saw that Ryo had already one food in the door frame. “Please leave me alone sensei, I don’t need anyone who cares about me”, Kame said tiredly and tried to push the other one away.
“I just want to help you”, Ryo said when the door got closed. He knew that his student was still standing behind the door, listening to him.
“You don’t know me. You are new in school, you saw me three or four times, you know nothing, and I don’t want you to know anything, so please leave.” Ryo heard Kame saying through the closed door.
“Can you think of joining the music club? I’d really need another talented guy in there”, Ryo changed the topic and tried to get Kame’s attention and maybe he’d join and Ryo could try to help him in this way.
“No, I don’t think I will”, Kame answered.
“Please think of it”
“Maybe”, Kame said and Ryo heard him walking into the apartment. He turned around and walked away. He knew he wouldn’t get the chance to talk to him this time.
“Ryo-chan, please take care about you.” Yoko looked at his friend and sighed deeply. He knew that Ryo would help this boy not matter how difficult the situation was, and no matter how it would end up. He was totally good hearted and nothing was more important than helping others, no matter what this meant for him.
“Yes, I will…but Yoko, you haven’t seen his beaten up face. It was horrible”, Ryo shook his head and tried to forget about Kame’s face which was popping up in his mind.
“Ryo”, Yoko sighed deeply “I just don’t want that the same thing happen again. You know how deep you fell after Miyu’s death and all the things which happened.”
Ryo winced when Yoko said the girl’s name and looked up to him. “I know, Yoko. But I have the feeling that I have to help him.”
“I just want you to be careful. Don’t let rumors coming up again, Ryo”, Yoko said carefully and tried to reach his friend. He always believed Ryo’s words, and he knew that he never touched Miyu. Ryo was honest and he just wanted to help her, and there was no other intension behind this. But now he had such a strange glance in his eyes, and Yoko didn’t know if this was a good sign.
“Ryo, open the door, open it…”, Yoko screamed from the outside and slammed against the door, but no one answered. He knew Ryo was at home, and so he ran down, searching for the landlord.
“Please, you have to open the door, I know he is in there”, Yoko begged.
“Normally it’s not allowed to open someone the door…”, the landlord said and sighed when he saw Yoko’s fearful eyes and opened the door for him.
“Ryo…”, Yoko yelled and ran to the bathroom, finding his friend in the tub, some blood was dropping down on the floor.
“Oh god…I call the ambulance”, Yoko heard the landlord saying behind him and saw him taking out his mobile.
He knelt next to the tub and took the towel from behind to put it around Ryo’s wrist. “What have you done…”, Yoko whispered and pulled his friend out of the tub, lying him down in the sleeping room.
“I am sorry”, he heard Ryo croaking next to him, his eyes half open.
“Ryo-chan, don’t do something again”, Yoko wiped away some hair strains and sighed deeply.
“Everything was my fault”, Ryo whispered and closed his eyes again. Everything was spinning around and he felt the weakness overwhelming him.
“It wasn’t Ryo, don’t be stupid. It was an accident, and you did absolutely nothing wrong. You never touched her, you just helped her with her horrible family”, Yoko answered, his heart was still beating fast and his breath was deep.
“I know”, Ryo only said and closed his eyes. “I am sorry”, he added silently and everything went black around him.
“Please, just take care”, Yoko said and saw the goose bumps on his skin when he thought of the day he found Ryo in his apartment.
“I will, Yoko, I won’t slip into something bad again”, Ryo answered slowly.
Kame sat in his apartment and looked into the mirror in front of him. His face was swollen and he saw the bruises on his upper body and his hands.
Everything was like always. He talked to some guys, went with them to the room, let them do what they paid for and went downstairs again to search for the next one.
“You are far away with your thoughts”, the man said and pressed Kame against the wall.
“I am sorry, now I am totally here”, Kame smiled and felt the other one’s breath in his neck.
Actually he was never with the men when he slept with them. He always dreamed about being on beautiful places, laughing around with his friends and peaceful evenings on his couch. But on this night he just thought of Ryo’s face and his voice resounded in his head.
The man stepped backwards and stared at Kame. “You are absolutely somewhere else”, he started to scream.
“Maybe it’s better if you go now”, Kame said and wanted to open the door, when he felt the other one pulling on his arm, pushing him backwards till he was sitting on the floor. He felt the first slap in his face, and the second one. He felt one kick and hands on his body till his brain switched off and he only saw the sunlight and the park where he always was with his family.
When he opened his eyes again he couldn’t move and felt the pain everywhere on his body. He still heard the moaning of the guy in his ear when he lied above him and Kame had already given up to struggle against the man’s grip. He just let it happen.
“Honey, what the hell happened”, Yuri, the owner said slowly. She especially took care about the youngest in her house, and she always was against Kame’s wish to work here, because she always said that he was too young and talented to do such a job, but before she’d let him doing this job on street, she took care about him here.
“Nothing”, Kame said and saw her already walking up to him. He always liked the woman towards him. She handled him like her own child, and he always had the feeling of being something special when she was around. She always comforted him, and he often thought of her as a mother.
Kame smiled when he thought of the day he saw her for the first time. He was nearly afraid of her. Yuri was tall and strong and she never listened to others, but she was a total good hearted person. Since years she was the only one Kame talked to, because he could tell her about his real personality. Yuri knew his “dark side” and she seemed to understand his feelings. She really was like a mother for him, a mother he missed since years.
“Don’t be stupid, come here”, she said and pulled on Kame’s arm to bring him to a room on the backside of the bar.
“Who did this?”, she asked harshly.
“The last man”, Kame answered. He knew it was senseless to hide that fact from her, because she always got to know what she wanted to.
“I’ll call the police”, she said and glanced at him, when Kame wanted to answer back. “No one touches my boys in this way, no one”, she said angrily and had the mobile in her hands. It wasn’t the first time she called the police and they already knew her quite well. Yuri was always on the side of her boys and girls, no matter in which situation they were.
“They are on their way. So, let’s take a look at your wounds, honey. Mummy will take care about you”, she smiled brightly and touched Kame’s head slightly.
