Summary: It's not easy to forget about someone special, but sometimes you need to make a new start with someone else.

Ryo and his niece walked up to the observatory in their town. “Uncle Ryo-chan, can we go there more often?”, she asked him and pulled on his arm. “Sure, honey, we go there every day if you want to”, he stroked softly above the girl’s head and smiled at her.

She walked into the big room and looked around there. Her eyes were sparkling and she couldn’t wait for the moment when they would walk on the plateau to look at the millions of stars above them. She jumped up and down and pulled on Ryo’s arm because of her excitement. Ryo only smiled at her and took her small hand in his. Luckily he was a patient person, and he never got annoyed of his niece.

They walked upstairs and stepped on the plateau. There Ryo saw him for the first time. A young man was standing next to the handrail, looking up in the sky. His face was shining in the moonlight and Ryo could see some small wrinkles around his lips. His eyes were sparkling, reflected from the moon, and Ryo could see a small tears running down his cheek.

Ryo shook his head and concentrated on his niece again. Her eyes grew bigger when she looked at the sky and the fascination about the sight she got there was written in every expression she had in this moment. Ryo smiled brightly and his heart made some jumps. He really loved when he was able to make his niece become happy.

They stepped a bit forward, till they had a good view to the sky. Ryo put his niece on his shoulders so she could not only see the sky, but also the lights of the town in front of them. She couldn’t believe her eyes and jumped up and down on Ryo’s shoulder. “That’s sooooo amazing, Ryo-chan, the town…the lights….the sky….the stars…”, she started and her words broke. Ryo grinned brightly and pointed at a part of the town. “There are we living”, he said slowly and tried to look up at her. “Yes, true”, she yelled out and followed Ryo’s finger.

Ryo turned around and saw the young man next to him smiling at them. “You like the stars?”, he asked the girl and she nodded energetically at him. He looked up at the sky and sighed deeply. “They are shining millions of years for us, and every now and then one of them burns out”, he added and looked back at Ryo and his niece.

Ryo smiled slightly at him and nodded shortly. The mysterious aura of this guy riveted him, and he couldn’t stop staring at him.

“Uncle Ryo, please let us come here more often”, his niece said again and pulled softly on his hair.

“Sure my dear, but please let my hair…they’ll look like a total mess in the end”, he laughed when they walked out of the observatory. In his mind was still the picture of the strange man they met in there.

On the next day Ryo walked up to the observatory again, but this time he was alone. He didn’t know why he returned to this place, because he wasn’t that interested in the stars. But he couldn’t get this guy out of his mind, and somehow he hoped he’d meet him again.

He entered the room and looked around, but he couldn’t see the other one anywhere. He walked upstairs and stopped when he saw him standing there, his face was shining in the moonlight and Ryo could see some tears running down his cheek.

“You are here again?”, the man asked him and smiled slightly.

“Yes, I thought of taking a closer look to the stars”, Ryo answered and stared at the sky.

“Tonight they are more beautiful than yesterday. They are sparkling like never before”, the other one smiled and looked at Ryo. “I am Kazuya, and you?”, he added.

“Ryo, I am Ryo. Are you coming here every night?”, he wanted to know and stepped a bit closer.

“On every cloudless night, yes”, Kazuya answered and looked back at the night sky.

“Really? Why?”

Kazuya smiled sadly and breathed in deeply, before he looked back to Ryo.

I will shine for you in ever night. I will be on the sky and you will be able to see me every time you want. I will sparkle just for you. I promise I won’t leave you, even though you won’t be able to see me anymore.

“Let’s say I lost someone precious, who is now up there, sparkling for me.”, he answered and pointed at some stars.

“I am sorry for you”, Ryo said softly.

“And you are here because?”, Kazuya wanted to know.

“My niece wanted to see the observatory”, Ryo answered and nodded.

“And today?”

“Ano…I don’t know, I like the place here”, Ryo lied and blushed because he felt caught.

“Ah, I understand”, Kazuya said and smiled.

Someday you will be able to let me go and finding someone new. Kazuya sighed deeply and closed his eyes shortly. Was he able to let go off his past?

“Tomorrow is the night of the falling stars. Have you read about it?”, Ryo asked out of the blue and waited for Kazuya’s reaction. He nodded and Ryo rubbed his chin before he added: “Ano, I know the place where you shall have a optimal view, maybe you want to join?”.

“Really?”, Kazuya asked irritated and knitted his eyebrows.

One day I will fall down like a falling star and then let me go, and find someone else. It’s the time to leave me behind, leave behind the past, finding new love.

On the next day Ryo waited at the place they wanted to meet up and smiled when he saw Kazuya walking up to him, his hands in his pockets and he seemed to be lost in his thoughts.

“Hey, Ryo”, he said when he reached the other one, and Ryo could see that Kazuya must have cried, because his eyes and cheeks were deeply red.

“Hey, everything alright?”, Ryo asked softly and touched the other one’s shoulder slightly. Even though he didn’t know him, he felt like belonging to him in a kind of way. And it felt attracted to him from the very first time he saw him.

“Yes, everything perfect”, Kazuya answered and smiled sadly. He cried the last hours, because he didn’t know how he should forget about the past, and he didn’t know if he was able to make a restart.

Stop crying because of me, I said I will be there for you in every second, even though you won’t see me. Someone else will hold your heart, and he will protect it and handle it carefully. Take the chance to find something new.

They walked upstairs to a plateau where they had a perfect view. It was only the two of them there, and they stepped forward to look at the horizon, waiting for the falling stars.

“And when the falling stars appear I will be gone, and I want to be gone from your heart too. I don’t want you to forget me, but make place for something new”, Kazuya whispered and looked at the sky.

“What?”, Ryo asked and looked at the other one.

“I lost my love some time ago, and I need to go on”, Kazuya said out of the blue and looked at the other one.

“Oh, I am sorry that this happened to you.”, Ryo answered and didn’t ask further.

“No problem, I was talking to myself right before”, he answered and smiled sadly.

“Oh, look”, Ryo said nervously and pointed at some sparkling points on the sky.

“The falling stars”, Kazuya answered and some tears appeared in his eyes. “You are gone”, he added and wiped away the tears. A small smile appeared around his lips, when he felt a hand around his waist.

“Is everything alright?”, Ryo whispered and stroked above the other one’s waist.

“I think it is”, Kazuya said sadly and lied the head on Ryo’s shoulder. He felt comfortable right now, even though he hardly knew the other one.

Ryo stroked above his back and kissed his forehead slightly when he heard the other one started to cry. He embraced him tightly and whispered:

“Let me be your star. I promise to sparkle for you on each day”.

Kazuya hugged him and buried his head in Ryo’s chest. He sobbed shortly and finally looked at the other one, placing a soft kiss on his lips. They stood there for some time, not talking to each other and just feeling the other one’s warmth.

“He used the same words before he got to know that he’d die”, Kazuya whispered after some time.

Ryo just smiled at him and kissed him softly before he replied: “I won’t go away, I promise this to you”.

Let me be your star. I promise to sparkle for you on each day of my life and I will be your falling star when I am gone. But promise me to find your love again when I am not here anymore. He will find you, the stars will bring him to you.
