Aoi woke up early in the morning when the first sunlight touched his face. He smiled contently, stretching a bit before he stood up. He’d have a lot to do on this day. It was weekend – so he had to buy some food, cleaning his apartment and in the end he wanted to search for some new furniture. During the last months he never had time to do so, because work was almost killing him.

He changed his clothes for leaving and stopped moving from moment to the other. There was something, something important he wanted to do. He thought of it last night, but now he had forgotten about it. He really should start writing things down because he always forgot about things he had to do.

His sight fell on a short note on the entrance door. There were only two words written on the paper. “Ryuzaki Shinji.” He read it out loud. He rubbed his chin, trying to remember why he wrote that down, but he never heard that name before. He took the paper and threw it in the dustbin before he left his apartment. It couldn’t have been that important, because otherwise he would have remembered about it.

“Ryosuke-kun.” He turned around, seeing his coworker smiling brightly at him. Aoi returned it, bowing slightly. Actually he didn’t want to meet someone from work on weekend, but he couldn’t run away here. “Did you find him yesterday?” Aoi blinked at that. “Finding whom?” He could see the other one’s astonished expression. Did he forget about something? Did he have a date he forgot about? “Your brother…”

Brother? Brother? Brother? The word was rushing through Aoi’s mind, but even if he felt a stinging pain in his belly, he wasn’t able to remember about something. “Brother?”

The other one blinked at that. “Yes, he was visiting me yesterday. I told you, when you came back because you forgot something. And you ran away afterwards. I thought you’d search for him.” Aoi had no idea what the other one was talking about. He couldn’t remember about walking back to school and about having this talk.

“Ah, sure, yes of course I remember. I hadn’t time to search for him. But I will do it today.” He didn’t want to start a discussion about it, so he just agreed to it. Something was off here, but he couldn’t figure out what it was. “I am sorry, I have to go now.” He bowed slightly before he walked down the hall without looking back at the other one.

What was going on here? He had a brother? That couldn’t be. He wouldn’t forget about his family. His parents died long ago and he was the only child left behind. That was the story he knew. Ryuzaki Shinji – the name came up in his mind again. Was this his brother?

Shinji walked down the park next to his hotel. He needed some fresh air to cool down a bit. Early in the morning he called Yuui, because his memory was again fading away, but in the end he remembered about Ryosuke.

He crossed the street stopping in the middle of it when he saw the slender figure on the other side. “Ryosuke.” He started running without really wanting it. His heart was hammering against his chest. Some moments ago he was torn between leaving the town and finding him, and now he saw him. He was close and also far away.

He waited till he was close enough to the other one, so that he’d hear him. “Ryosuke.” Shinji smiled slightly when he saw the other one turning around. He immediately saw that something was wrong. Aoi’s expression, his eyes, his smile, it wasn’t the one he knew. “Yes? Sorry, do we know each other?”

“I am too late…” Shinji felt a hot wave rushing through his body. “You already forgot about me.”

Ryosuke blinked at that. Who was that man? He didn’t know the face, but on the other side he knew him somewhere. “I forgot about you? Are you Ryuzaki-san?” Aoi didn’t know why he asked this, but he remembered about the note on his door. It had to have a meaning, so maybe this was the man the name belonged to. “You know my name?”

“Yes and no – I had a note with the name on it on my door, but I couldn’t remember why. And I had no idea who it was.”

Shinji sighed deeply. He now knew that they shared the same fate. But he still remembered about his brother, while the other had already forgotten about everything concerning them. “Can we talk somewhere?” Aoi nodded shortly. He really wanted to meet up with a stranger? It was untypically him, but he felt connected to that guy. He wanted to know what was going on here. There had to be a meaning behind the appearance of that stranger.

Takki had his gaze lowered, staring at the tea water in his cup. “Ano…you really have no idea who I am, right?” Aoi shook his head slightly. He rubbed his temples when a stinging pain crossed his head.

Two hands touching

The power crossing his body

Water around him

Someone pulling him out there

Dead soul

The thoughts were hitting him and he wasn’t able to sort them out correctly. “We were in the water. You and I. Our hands touched – the power disappeared.” His words came out incoherently, but of course Shinji could sort them out. He nodded at that, smiling slightly because parts of the others memory came back. He on the other side could remember about everything - clearer than ever before.

“Who are you? My brother?” Aoi asked again. Shinji nodded slightly, some wrinkles curling around his lips. Maybe Aoi remembered about it now, maybe his memory came back.

Ryosuke rubbed his face – too many thoughts were crossing his mind. Everything started spinning around. He looked down, shaking his head a bit before he faced the other one. Shinji saw Aoi’s dark eyes resting on him, scanning him properly. Actually it was him with the dark, mysterious and somehow dangerous aura, but in this moment it wasn’t him. He felt small and weak, and he didn’t know why, till Ryouske’s words hit him. He counted with everything, but not with this, because it was the thing he pushed away, the things he didn’t remember about it.

“If you are my brother – why did we almost sleep with each other?”
